But first why?

DESIGN FOCUS

We are here to create safe, healthy, well designed space people want to be in. Whether that’s a private residence, a small commercial project, or support of the A&D industry with production drawings we are here to help design a better world.

design philosophy

With our design work we aim to reflect the world around us, pulling from nature and technology, history and culture, to create spaces which foster sustainability; socially, economically and architecturally. This can be seen through large concepts with the honest use of material, pattern, color, and contrast. Creating art that is lived in through Interior Design.

KS Shea Designs creates spaces with clean lines but always with a touch of whimsy. We believe it is part of our job to take a smarter approach to design, architecture, and urban planning to be more aware of not only the short term consequences but the impact of the urban landscape in another fifty years.

We believe there is a blurred line between all the aspects of design and their intersection with the arts. From architecture to set design, from graphic design to fine art, from interior design to art installations, landscapes to sculpture. It all needs to work together and are all spokes of the same wheel. Collaboration with any and all is what makes this studio tick.

DESIGN story

KS Shea Designs was established in 2019 by wife and husband team Kendra and Simon Shea. Both came from backgrounds in the performing arts. Kendra a Dancer and Simon an Actor. Although they loved the art they practiced, it was not practical in the long term for their lives, and long term goals. Simon went on to culinary school and become a cook and Kendra went to get her Associates and eventually her Bachelors in Interior Design. During her career Kendra has worked for small start ups, small Interior Design Firms and large Architecture Firms. This has allowed her to have a background in a few different design types including Multi-Family, Senior Living, Education, Hospitality, and Healthcare. After some trial and error, Kendra realized the large scope and office workspace of a traditional design career was not for her. She also noticed there was a place for her to support the design community she loves, but in her own way. With Simon on board as Business Manager, Kendra quit her office job and started the company a few months later. In 2020 Kendra received her NCIDQ and in 2021 launched their new podcast Design Over Drinks.
